Knowing Indian Economy

In the stock market, we invest in businesses. Business grows and makes a return, and then distributes a part of the return to their shareholders. But how do businesses grow and make a return? Growth of the Economy has a major role to play in it. Businesses exist in the economy and generally move with the Economy to grow and give returns.

An Economy with high growth not only supplements business growth directly, but also makes more resources available to each individual to spend, and when they demand more, and this demand is met by businesses, which again lead to their growth. Moreover Economy also has a major role to play when it comes to capital availability to businesses.

Therefore it is important to know about Economy, have a basic understanding of the indicators, so that we can relate the possible outcome of any major change. In Indian Context, major Economic reforms for sustainability of businesses came in 1991, when we brought Liberalisation norms.

The businesses before this phase were heavily regulated, private companies were not promoted, and we were not open much to trade with other countries. Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation reforms for 1991, changed the picture and within a few years, we were able to grow faster than ever, due to change in some Economic and Financial factors.

Hence, it is critical to have information for basic concepts of Economy, major economic events and how they have impacted us and major sectors in our Economy. Not only this you should also be able to answer some basic questions like–

1.What is Purchasing Power Parity(PPP)?

2.What is the difference between Nominal and Purchasing Power Parity(PPP) figures?

3.What are the major Sectors of our Economy?

4.Which sector contributed more to our GDP and their relative importance?

All this has been covered in detail in a video lecture of “The Complete course on Indian Stock Market”.
